This evening I am trying to surround a red "button" from a stained glass church window. Back thirty five years or so ago, my Daddy tore down an church that was over 100 years old. He sold nine of the ten windows to a church 300 miles away. They had built their church with the openings for stained glass windows and did not ever have the money to get new ones built for the openings. When they found out that Daddy had the windows they sent a man to look at them. He measured them to see if they would fit. Sure enough, they fit exactly in the church with one inch to spare! Now what are the chances of that happening?
The tenth window got broken in the process of removing them from the church so Dad, being Dad, stuck the pieces in a barrel and promptly forgot all about it. Several years later, when I was visiting with my parents I ran across the barrel of glass and he gave it to me. That is where I got the button from! (I will try to take a picture of the "button" before I get the banding started.) With the rest of the window pieces I have made mosaic tops for five patio tables. I really enjoy the process of making something out of broken & throw away things. I always try to figure in my mind, what can I do with that piece of junk. That is why I got started in beading. I had numerous pieces of jewelry that were my Moms/Grandmas collections. Most of the pieces were not something I would ever wear but once it is taken apart and used for various creations they get a new life. (There could be a whole sermon about that! But that will be for another time......)
Well, my grand daughters are spending the night with us and they brought a guest with them. (The least I could do to pay my son-in-law for the brain surgery he did on my computer.)
I sincerely appreciate your stopping in to read my thoughts today!
Have a wonderful Sunday....Sharon
